Plastic Free Freo

A grassroots movement to make Fremantle the first city in Western Australia to ban plastic bags.

In an effort to lower our plastic footprint, increase the sustainability of beautiful Fremantle, and protect our natural environment, we have created Plastic Free Freo – a campaign starting with the end of single-use plastic bag distribution, and expanding organically to meet the concerns of the business and residential community.

We need your help to reverse the negative effects of plastic consumption and take part in freeing Freo from plastic bags. May Fremantle be the change we know is well overdue.

Please follow the campaign on the Plastic Free Freo Facebook page or on the Plastic Free Freo Twitter account to stay informed and support our efforts!

Thank you to the City of Fremantle and Mayor Brad Pettitt for supporting this grass roots campaign! They have developed a stakeholder/working group in the aim of drafting legislation to ban single-use plastic bags by September 2012.

And thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who are making it happen! Without your efforts, suggestions and time, we would not be where we are at this moment!
